08 May
Helston Flora Day
This event celebrates the arrival of spring.  The whole town is decorated with local greenery and blue bells and elegant gentleman and their ladies dance in and out of churches, shops and houses.  At the bottom of Coinagehall Street are many stalls selling souvenirs, crafts and foods, running all the way down to Coronation Park where a fairground is set up.

08 - 17 May
Daphne Du Maurier Festival
The festival of Arts and Literature is a community event set in Fowey.  Throughout the festival, Fowey and neighbouring towns present star names, guided walks, talks, local events and free entertainment.

23 - 26 May
Run to the Sun
Run to the Sun 2008 Festival is a 3 day event spread over 2 sites in Newquay, Trevelgue Holiday Park which is the main event site and Tregunnel car park which hosts the 'Show'n'shine', major VW convention where hundreds of Volkswagen and custom car enthusiasts meet.  The main arena at Trevelgue Holiday Park will be the host for 3 nights of live entertainment complete with DJ's, visual performers and laser shows.

05 - 07 June
Royal Cornwall Show 2008
The Royal Cornwall Show is one of the leading agricultural shows in the UK.  Stage on the Royal Cornwall showground, close to the town of Wadebridge, the show covers approximately 100 acres and is a major showcase for agriculture, food and related subjects plus a wide range of displays and attractions for all the family.

06 - 07 June
Fat Face Night Surf Contest (TBC)
This event is the first of four extreme sports events in the Fat Face night series.  The night surf brings world class surfers under the floodlights alongside the ultimate family friendly beach party.  The event is rounded off with a spectacular fireworks display.

21 - 22 June
Moskito Groms Competition (TBC)
Planned for 21/22 June, the UK leg of the Moskito tour is a great starting block for any aspiring surfing professional to test their skills against the competitive field and a good oportunity for more experienced competitors to hone their skills in a mixed field of competitors.

05 - 06 July
Quiksilver King of the Groms Comp
This is the essential global contest for those aspiring to a professional surfing career, anyone entering must be 16 and under.  Contestants should contact the British Surfing Association.

25 - 26 July
White Stuff Surf Relief UK Festival
As beach events go, the White Stuff surf relief day has it all, pro-surfing, a host of beach games and activities and an evening of live music.  The event takes place at Watergate Bay beach and is also a real family day with face painters, circus acts and sandcastle building competitions.

04 - 10 August
Rip Curl Boardmasters 2008
The festival is returning to Newquays famous Fistral Beach for its 27th anniversary, it will consist of an entire week of fun including surfing, skating, BMX, freestyle, motocross, beach bar, BBQ's and DJ's.

08 - 09 August
Unleashed Music Festival 2008
This is the highlight of the South West music calendar and takes place at Watergate Bay.  The line-up will be announced nearer the time.

07 September
Newquay Triathlon 2008
Revived for 2008, this event is now a full standard distance of 1500m swim, 25mile bike ride and 10k run.
