This ancient festival celebrating the Feast of St. Peter has become a major event in the Cornish calender. Centred around the picturesque harbour, which is decorated with colourful lighting and huge silk flags depicting fantasy fish, turning the whole area into a riot of colour and movement.

The crowd on both jetties have a wonderful view of the rescue and the spectacular boat handling.

There is also a raft race, fancy costume obligatory, and there is a huge flour and water fight before the start, where all competitors try to sink their rivals. Usual story with the protests in the pubs afterwards.

The carnival is on the Saturday afternoon and has a huge following.
That night there is a spectacular fireworks show on the lighthouse quay.
