This ancient festival celebrating the Feast
of St. Peter has become a major event in the Cornish calendar. Centered
around the picturesque harbour, which is decorated with colourful
lighting and huge silk flags depicting fantasy fish, turning the
whole area into a riot of colour and movement.
The festival starts off on Sunday 29th June with a must day for
all fish lovers, the annual Fish Festival is a gastronomic delight
providing the freshest fish you will ever taste from scallops to
sardines, mackerel to monkfish. Local chefs and fishermen
demonstrating
filleting and cooking methods.
Live music is provided by a line up of
artists featuring Mick Russell (Blues), Bucket Boys (R 'n' B), Riot
(Rock 'n' Roll), Maryland and Camille Miller (Contemporary) and
Rocket Dog (Rock), something for all tastes. There is a procession
at 3.00pm when 'Pete the Fish' makes his big appearance with the
Festival band and lots of little fish.
